Conrad Weiser Animal Hospital is proud of the many services we offer our clients and their beloved pets. One of these services available is ultrasound imaging.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging is a painless, non-invasive procedure which uses sound waves to produce a real-time visual image of the interior organs of the body. Our doctors can interpret these images immediately, or when necessary send them electronically to a specialist for a consultation. These images aid our doctors in making timely diagnostic decisions and recommendations that can help save your pet’s life.

Ultrasound imaging allows our doctors to look inside your pet’s body, and thus help observe the structure and function of the heart, locate abdominal tumors, visualize the liver and spleen, and look inside the bladder. In addition to diagnostic assessment, ultrasound can also guide the doctor while performing needle aspirations and tissue biopsies.

Ultrasound imaging is the perfect complement to radiographs. This imaging modality has been an invaluable resource at Conrad Weiser Animal Hospital since 2004.

Radiology

Radiographs, or x-rays, are an important diagnostic tool in veterinary medicine. Orthopedic problems such as bone fractures, hip dysplasia, and arthritic changes in joints can be visualized on radiographs. Other diseases including heart disease, lung disease, and tumors are able to be assessed and diagnosed with the help of radiographs. Swallowed objects which are causing gastrointestinal distress can be diagnosed either with standard radiographs or by intestinal contrast studies.

X-ray films are available for viewing in a relatively short period of time. Radiograph films can be viewed with clients in the privacy of an exam room, or if needed, the films or digital files of the films can be sent to a specialist for review and consultation.
